'Drugs - True Stories' is a documentary style program that explores the drug experience through the first hand voices of a wide cross-section of young people. The aim of this program is to give teachers, parents and health workers an understanding of the point of view of the young person who takes drugs and what the drug taking experience means to them and to trigger frank and honest discussion amongst its adult audience. This program opens up an avenue of communication between adult and child and will facilitate discussion about why young people take drugs and he effects drug taking has on them. We also explore the means by which young people might overcome their needs for drugs. The underlying message is to encourage empathy and connection between adult and child rather than secrecy, fear and guilt. Intended for an adult audience.
