Description

Postmodernism is a range of conceptual frameworks and ideologies that are defined in opposition to those commonly associated with ideologies of modernism. Modernism came to be seen as too structured and contained within a set of rules that designers were desperate to break free from. This program examines these diverse ideas, designs and innovations that developed during the postmodern era and beyond. A tour of the Alessi factory and museum and other significant Milan design houses is accompanied by interviews with Alberto Alessi, Memphis designer George Sowden, and postmodernist architect Mendini assist in exploring these design concepts.
