Description

Through personal stories of Pacific Islanders, this program shows how global warming is not something that looms in the distant future, but is a threat whose first impacts may have already begun. Pacific Islanders take the viewer on a journey through several of the smallest nations on earth, and show what they believe are the first signs of global warming: unusual high tides, rogue waves and erosion that have swept several of the low-lying atolls of Micronesia, destroying crops and polluting fresh water supplies. Warmer waters are now killing off coral reefs and an increase in the frequency and intensity of hurricanes is making it difficult for island communities and ecosystems to recover.
