Description

This program shows students how to complete the practical fieldwork needed to investigate a local ecosystem. We see three biology students documenting their chosen site by conducting fieldwork tasks such as: choosing an ecosystem, accurately measuring the site, drawing up labelled scale maps showing the site in plan and profile elevations, recording the site's main features, identifying the dominant species, and taking note of the abundance and distribution of major flora and fauna species. It concludes by briefly explaining how to use field data to identify the food chains and food webs between species, and apply biological keys to classify species.
