Description

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (often pronounced Peter in English) born in 1840 was a Russian composer who found fame in the 'romantic' era composing ballets and operas such as Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker, as well as the 1812 Overture, his First Piano Concerto and the opera Eugene Onegin after studying at the famed St Petersburg Conservatory. In this insightful program viewers will follow the life and times of Tchaikovsky, what inspired him, his often troubled life and the music that has lived on for generations since his death in 1893 at 53.
