Description

Over 60% of adults worldwide aren't physically active enough. Why is this happening when it's widely known that a physically active lifestyle has numerous health benefits? An active lifestyle assists in the prevention of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, some cancers, and physical injuries. Sedentary behaviour carries many dangers and is responsible for an estimated two million deaths per year. Considering what we know, it's surprising that rates of participation in physical activity are declining, and the number of people classified as 'sedentary' is rising. This program covers a number of issues: Definition of 'physical activity' and 'active lifestyle', Factors that influence patterns of participation, What initially motivates people to take up more exercise, continued involvement in physical activity. This much-needed program will help to address the worrying increase in physical inactivity.
