Description

The HNN team continues to probe Australia's past, bringing you yesterday's news today. In this program they look into a Commonwealth Government policy, commonly called the White Australia Policy, which was enacted by the first Bill to pass before a Federal Australian Government. It determined which nationalities and races of people could migrate to Australia, and played a major part in shaping the makeup of this country's population during the 20th century. The team explores Australian history with a new approach, going from the studio to the field and to prominent Australians, including historians Prof. Marilyn Lake, Prof Henry Reynolds, Humphrey McQueen, and Dr Gwenda Tavan.
