Description

Throughout time, Australia's natural climatic extremes have presented many challenges for human inhabitants. This has prompted Australians to develop a unique relationship with the natural environment. In this program we explore the values associated with environmental sustainability and how the human relationship with nature has changed over time. We look back to discover how the first Australians developed sustainable living habits and farming practices, enabling them to live in unity with the barren landscape and infertile soils, through to how the early settlers attempted to change Australia into the European land they knew.
