Description

The growth of Canada coincided with the growth and development of the fishing industry. Technology and capital allowed companies to expand and develop new methods of fishing while sonar, radar, bigger ships and engines led to a more effective ocean harvest. Governments, communities and companies failed to recognise the vulnerability of the fish resource that for so long, had been the great provider. However Canadians have now realised the short sightedness of their understanding of the seas natural resources, but is it too late?
