Description

This program aims to establish that poetry is all around us, from the earliest rhymes we learn to the jingles we can all recite. The various components of poetry are identified including rhythm, rhyme, repetition, and a range of other poetic devices, like alliteration, assonance, onomatopoeia, similes and metaphors. A number of examples of each device are given as well as a variety of poems such as the lyrical Shakespeare's Sonnet Number 18, excerpts of poems by Emily Bronte and Emily Dickinson, a poem written by a lower secondary school student and several other original poems or parts of poems that feature them.
