Description

Shakespeare's Hamlet can be directed and interpreted in many different ways. This film concentrates on the different approaches in different Media. Focusing on two key scenes of Shakespeare's Hamlet, students see how a stage director and a film director handle the material very differently but both to great effect. The scenes are played out in full. Students can very easily draw comparisons because both directors use Act III Scene i and Act III Scene iv and both the film and the stage version use the same actors. This program clearly demonstrates the different disciplines of theatre and film directing and makes for unique and compelling viewing for students of drama and Shakespeare as well as for students of media based courses.
