Description

This program reviews the experiments of Rutherford and J.J.Thompson that led to the development of the atomic model. Thompson's cathode ray gun experiment is shown and explained as is Rutherford's gold foil experiment. A snooker ball model is shown to aid understanding of the experiment. Protons, neutrons and electrons are defined as well as atomic number and mass number and their notation on the Periodic Table is explained. Electronic orbits are explained, as is the notation for electronic configuration. This is then related to the Periodic Table.
